WHITE CANES

We offer both a folding and a rigid cane. Our canes are made of tempered 1/2-inch aircraft aluminum tubing and are light and easy to handle. They have a white Scotchlite covering and six inches of fluorescent red at the bottom. Each has a flexible, rubber golf handle with elastic wrist loop. The cane comes with the tip of your choice, which include the straight tip, the red ball tip, the red marshmallow tip, or the red mushroom tip. The other tips are sold separately. Unless otherwise requested, the cylinder tip will come ON each cane.

THE FOUR SECTION FOLDING CANE - $25.00 EACH

Please add $3.00 for canes longer than 60 inches.

This cane can be folded and secured with the wrist loop for compact storing when not in use. The solid fitting joints and strong, double cord that runs through the center of the cane ensure a constant tight fit that resembles the feel of the rigid cane.

THE SIX SECTION FOLDING CANE - $28.00

Please add $3.00 for canes longer than 60 inches.

This cane is exactly like the four section folding cane except it has six sections. This allows it to be folded in to a shorter, but slightly thicker, bundle for easier storage in a pocket or purse.

NOTE: We do not stock the six section canes so must order from the manufacturer upon your request. This will delay your order by about a week.

The Rigid Cane - $21.00 EACH

Please add $3.00 for canes longer than 60 or less than 36 inches.

The rigid cane is a very sturdy, non-jointed cane that offers strength and stability, as well as the ability to relay important information about the environment you are traveling through.

CANE LENGTHS

All canes are sized as closely as possible to your requested length, measured in increments of 2 inches. Since you choose the tip you would like, the finished length could be slightly longer or shorter than your requested length. We strive to give you a cane as close to the length you want as possible. Our folding canes come in lengths of 36 to 60 inches. Rigid canes are available in 20-60 inch lengths. We can special order Both canes, so be sure to ask if what you need is available.

The cylinder tip - $1.00 EACH

WHAT ARE STANDARD AND SLIDE OVER CANE TIPS

Most of the tips we sell are manufactured specificly for us. Our ball tip comes in two models. The standard tip, red in color, has a 1/2-inch diameter hole and fits directly over the cane shaft. The slide-over, white or off-white color version, has a 5/8-inch diameter hole and is designed to fit over the cylinder tip similar to that seen above. Please specify which model you would like when ordering the ball tip.

THE BALL TIP - $3.00 EACH

Please specify standard or slideover model

Picture of the red ball tip This nonrolling ball tip was designed for rural travel over rough or uneven ground such as grass, dirt, gravel, etc. The large diameter provides for smoother and easier use whether in rural or city travel. The ball glides over obstacles smaller tips can get caught by. The injection molded ball tip has an outer diameter of 2.25 inches and is hollow to reduce the weight. Each ball weighs just over 1 ounce and is made of high viscosity nylon to improve durability. The average life is about 3-4 months with regular use and periodic rotation on the cane shaft to prevent wearing in one spot.
Picture of the white ball tip The slide-over model of this tip fits over an already installed cylinder tip. If the slide-over tip wears out or is dislodged, the cylinder tip may still be present to tide you over until you can replace it.

THE MARSHMALLOW TIP - $2.00 EACH

Picture of the red marshmallow tip This nonrolling marshmallow tip is designed for city travel, (cement, concrete, and other hard surfaces). Its beveled end allows it to slide over all those cracks and bumps as in carpeting, tile flooring etc. that the smaller tips get caught in. The marshmallow is also injection molded of high- viscosity, low-friction nylon and has a solid body. It has an outer diameter of 1.25 inches, is 1.5 inches in length and weighs about 1 ounce. The average life is about 4- 5 months with regular use and periodic rotation of the tip to prevent wearing in one spot.

THE MUSHROOM TIP - $2.00 EACH

Picture of the mushroom tip The mushroom tip is very similar to the marshmallow tip, but the end is more rounded. This rounded end slides easily over many surfaces. This injection-molded tip has an outer diameter of 1.5 inches, an overall length of 3 inches. It fits on to a 1/2 inch cane shaft and weighs about 1.3 ounces. It closely resembles a giant mushroom, hence, its name. Being solid and made of nylon, the life span may be longer than that of a marshmallow tip.

THE METAL GLIDE TIP WITH ADAPTOR (MGA) - $3.00 EACH

THE (MGA) - $1.50 EACH
THE METAL GLIDE TIP - $2.00 EACH

Picture of the adaptor with tip The MGA is made of nylon and is used to alter the end of a standard 1/2-inch cane so that an NFB, (National Federation of the Blind), metal glide tip can be used. This will allow those who like the characteristics of this tip to use it on a 1/2-inch diameter cane. The assembled unit, one NFB metal glide tip and one adaptor, measures 1.5 inches long and weighs about 1.2 ounces.

BALL AND MARSHMALLOW ROLLER TIPS

In recent years, these tips have become very popular. I have been looking for roller tips that I would like well enough to use myself, and could recommend to our customers. I have found what I was looking for in the tips made by Ambutech. These tips are comparitively inexpensive, and roll much easier than any other tips I have used. I have chosen to carry the slip on style, which fits over the end of the cane shaft instead of the hook style which hooks on to the elastic chord inside the cane because all of our canes and tips use the slip on method. If I get enough requests, I will stock the hook on style for those who need them. For now, you can order them through the Independent Living Aids link on our home page, or directly from Ambutech.

THE Ambutech roller ball tip - $7.95 EACH

Picture of the Ambutech roller ball tip This tip is somewhat similar to our red ball tip above. It provides the same benefits, but in addition, it has a bearing inside that allows the tip to roll from side to side. This makes the cane easier to use for those who like to rest their cane tip on the ground when sweeping the cane back and forth in front of them instead of tapping the ground at each end of the arc.

THE Ambutech roller marshmallow tip - $8.95 EACH

Picture of the Ambutech roller marshmallow tip This tip is somewhat similar to our red marshmallow tip above. It provides the same benefits, but in addition, it has a bearing inside that allows the tip to roll from side to side. This makes the cane easier to use for those who like to rest their cane tip on the ground when sweeping the cane back and forth in front of them instead of tapping the ground at each end of the arc.
