LEARN MORE ABOUT THE NEW TECHNOLOGY
At long last, the new digital talking book players are being mailed to patrons of the National Library Service talking book program.
This allows the libraries to lend books on digital cartridge instead of using casettes. For those who are computer savy, you can sign up for the BARD (Braille and Audio Reading Download) data base on the internet and download books from the National Library Service web site instead of having them mailed to you.
this allows you to choose a book to read and have it in your hand in minutes, instead of days. You can erase it from your cartridge after reading, or save it and build a library.
To download and play books, you can use a flash drive to hold the book and plug it in to the USB jack on the side of the player, or you can buy blank cartridges, put your books on them, and slide them in to your player for reading. This is where we come in.
The library provides books on cartridges, but doesn't lend blank cartridges to patrons who want to download and read books. The library relies on private sellers to provide these cartridges for users to buy. We are one of these sellers. The cartridge we sell has a capacity of two gigabytes, and can hold several books.
The cable is used to connect the cartridge to your computer. This cable is a standard USB extention cable, but the jack on the chord is thin enough to fit the recessed plug on the back of the cartridge. Not all USB cable designs will work with this cartridge, so be careful when buying them locally.
Our cable is 36 inches long, which is long enough for me to plug it in to the back of my computer and reach the front of my desk for easy inscertion in to the cartridge laying conveniently at hand on the front of the desk. I find that the cable is also useful for connecting thumb drives and mp3 players as well.
If you purchase at least $20.00 worth of our mobility items, you can buy cables and cartridges at reduced prices when shipped with your order.
cables $2.00 each up to 10 items
cartridges $10.00 each up to 10 items
Shipping and handling rates for small cable and cartridge orders are less than our normal rates, so be careful when calculating.
